Information

    • Well-reputed fish farm capable of producing 30,000 - 40,000 kg/ year
    • Three earth pools, thirteen tanks, grading area
    • Timber shed used as day room/office space
    • Good access and links to main roads

Tern Fisheries Ltd started production as a trout table farm unit in 1976. The majority of the fish produced were marketed through the Birmingham wholesale fish market with the balance being sold locally to pubs and hotels. In the early 1980’s production was gradually shifted into producing larger trout for restocking. Most fish averaged between 680-1.5kg with a few larger up to 5-10kg. At this point the farm output was between 30,000 and 40,000 kg per annum. The fish were sold within a 50 mile radius and delivered by the fisheries team.

Due to the owners retirement the farm has been let for the last five years and is now offered for let again as the current tenant has altered his enterprises. Having built the farm themselves the landlords have a wealth of knowledge on the site and they are prepared to share this understanding with any tenant.

    Abstraction Licences

The site has the benefit of both a borehole and a river abstraction licence which is exceptionally unusual and in the current climate either can be difficult to secure. Licence to Abstract Water – Licence Serial No. 18/54/4/1280/S/E (River Tern) for 10,000000 gallons approx per day by gravity (2024 licence fee - £634) Licence to Abstract Water – Licence Serial No. 18/54/4/1255/G (Borehole) 1700 cubic meters per day (6 months of the year). (2024 license fee - £120) Consent to Discharge - Consent No. S/04/5614
