The Wynnstay Group has reported a strong performance in the six months to April 30th. Revenues were up 2% to £120.34m, with the agricultural supplies businesses contributing £87.65m and specialist retailing business contributing £32.56m.
Operating profit was up 8% to £3.74m and pre-tax profit up 12% to £3.55m.
The Wynnstay Group bought local agricultural merchants, Griffiths & Simpson, about 15 years ago. G&S were based in Market Drayton (at the top of Pheonix Bank) where the fleet of flat bed lorries and bulkers were kept and maintained. The mill was based in Audley Avenue in Newport and the firm were well known thoughout Shropshire, Cheshire and Staffordshire for providing a personalised service.
