Having served for one year as National Junior Vice President of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers, Mike was appointed senior Vice President last week at their AGM in Edinburgh
Mike said it was a great honour to serve the CAAV and he looks forward to working with Julie Liddle from Penrith, Cumbria, the first ever female President during the coming year and Josh Pollock from Stamford, Lincolnshire, who takes over as Junior Vice President.
The vice-presidential role has involved Mike meeting various of the 30 local associations around the country from Cornwall to Cumbria and attending the European Valuers Conference in Brussels, together with liaison meetings including those with the NFU, TFA and CLA. This has been an important year with challenges for Valuers dealing with the proposed inheritance tax changes. Mike has also been involved in launching the CAAV initiative “Route to Rural” which encourages new members into the profession and is aimed at Schools leavers. The changing landscape with on going HS2 issues and the launch of a new code of practice for Landlords and Tenants and a further code of practice for all stakeholders involved in the acquisition of land for the Electricity Industry have been a further focus.
Mike is very much looking forward to the next year, travelling the country to visit more associations.
