The Farmers Guardian reports that new statutory levy rates have been confirmed by Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) for the red meat and arable sectors for the next financial year.
Rates are to increase across three of the six agricultural and horticultural sectors covered by AHDB including beef and lamb in England, cereaks and oilseeds in the UK and potoatoes in Great Britain. Levy rates in the other three sectors (horticulture in Great Britain, pigs in England and milk in Great Britain) will remain unchanged.
For the red meat industries in England and Wales these are the first new rates for 10 years and are intended to help bolster teh efforts of Eblex and Hyby Cig Cymru in export and domestic meat production.
The new rates, exclusive of VAT, will be implemented from April 1.
