We are delighted to announce the promotion of Harriet Jones BSc (Hons), MRICS, FAAV to the position of Partner which we see as an exciting step in the ongoing development of our business which offers professional advice and sales agency to landowners throughout Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire.
Shropshire born and bred, Harriet began her journey with Barbers Rural in 2014 by doing a week’s work experience after a chance conversation between Harriet’s father and Managing Partner, Louise Taylor, when he purchased a house sold by Barbers Rural. Continuing to work for the firm during school holidays, Harriet developed a deep interest in the world of rural surveying and enrolled at Harper Adams University to study Rural Estate and Land Management. During her placement year she returned to Barbers Rural and, after graduating with a first-class degree, was welcomed back to the firm as a trainee surveyor in July 2018. She quickly gained experience, confidence and more qualifications becoming a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers in December 2019 and an RICS Registered Valuer in late 2020. “This is a fantastic opportunity for me,” says Harriet. “I am dedicated to helping farmers and landowners and being given the chance to help manage and grow this successful business is truly a dream come true.”
Undertaking a wide variety of professional work which includes valuations, planning applications, compensation claims and landlord and tenant work, Harriet specialises in Estate Management where she works closely with landowners to help manage their property portfolios and estates efficiently, effectively and profitably. She has also recently trained as a mediator and is looking forward to using these skills to help resolve disputes in farming businesses. “Life as a Chartered Surveyor is challenging but also very rewarding”, commented Harriet who, in what little spare time she has, is currently renovating a house in Waters Upton. “I am so pleased to have found this career which has well and truly exceeded my expectations and I am looking forward to investing my skills and enthusiasm in a business and industry that I feel passionate about. I am so grateful for this opportunity and very excited for the future!”
Senior Partner, Mike Taylor, said that Harriet’s promotion was very well-deserved and that he was looking forward to watching her career develop further over the coming years. “She is extremely capable and strives for perfection in everything she does. We are lucky and proud to have her as a Partner.”
