Producers for First Milk will see an increase of up to 1.25p per litre from February 1st according to the Farmers Guardian.
Chairman, Bill Mustoe, said that better returns from cheese and ingredients markets, plus a continuing internal efficiency, have enabled the price increase.
It is the cheese pool producers who will benefit most taking their standard litre price to 24.52ppl. But the balancing pool price will increase by 1ppl to 24.27ppl and the liquid pool price moves up by 0.25ppl to 23.88ppl.
Mr Mustoe does however express disappointment at the stubborn liquid market.
“We are particularly disappointed that returns from the liquid market have been static. As soon as ongoing price negotiations with our liquid processor customers are completed, we will pass any additional funds we secure back to members.”
