Two egg producers in Mid Wales have received more than £72,000 in grants, according to the Farmers Guardian.
The money was granted by the Processing and Marketing Grant scheme, funded through the RDP for Wales.
The Abberley Partnership in Powys has expanded its facilities by a further 12,000 bird flock to double the output of free range eggs. The funding has helped pay for the purchase and installation of equipment to process an additional 3.2 million eggs each year.
Trewern Isaf Free Range Eggs near Oswestry received funding of nearly £46k towards the installation of a packing room and a 16,000 bird unit, which will produce 30,000 dozen eggs per months.
The two family run businesses see the poultry units as a means of additional income, enabling the next generation to remain at the farms.
