Badger cull still on the agenda for West Wales.

Elin Jones, Wales' rural affairs minister, has said that she is willing to sacrifice her seat at the next election rather than back down on her plan to implement a pilot badger cull in west Wales.

Approximately £100m has been paid in compensation over the last 10 years to farmers affected by bovine TB.  Ms Jones said painstaking word had gone into developing the programme and no political propaganda would force her to change her position.  She told the Farmers Union of Wales AGM that her determination to order the cull had resulted in a 'politically motiviated campaign to unseat her at next years' assembly election'.
