6,000 farmers still waiting for 2010 SPS payment.

Alistair Driver writes in the Farmers Guardian that the Rural Payments Agency (RPA) has fallen short of its target of paying 95% of the value of 2010 Single Payments by the end of March.  He reports that the latest figures released by the agency have revealed that, as at March 31, it had made payments totalling £1.52 billion ot 98,262 English farmers which represents 88% of the total estimated fund.

The RPA is reported to have paid approx 3,000 claimants in March but progress was nowhere near the target set by Defra.  Around 6,000 farmers are still waiting for their 2010 payment.
