    Mike is Senior Partner of Barbers Rural Consultancy.  He has extensive knowledge and over 30 years experience in a wide range of rural issues and specialises in agricultural law and valuations, together with the sale of farms, land and country properties. He is an experienced Expert Witness.

    Mike is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers, a Fellow of the National Association of Estate Agents, a member of the RICS Rural Board and a panel valuer for the Agricultural Mortgage Corporation in addition to other national lending institutions. Mike is also a member of the Agricultural Law Association.

    The son of a Shropshire farmer, Mike is married to Louise, with whom he manages the business, and they have two sons, the elder working as a Rural Chartered Surveyor in Oxford.  A keen sportsman, Mike enjoys golf, tennis, skiing and fieldsports and loves nothing more than spending time with his two sons.

    Mike is also a Partner in Barbers Auctions (Market Drayton Market Ltd) which holds one of the largest one day livestock markets in the country.

    Mike’s claim to fame: Whilst at school Mike ‘starred’ in a film alongside Billy Connolly and Richard Burton.

    Louise is a Partner in Barbers Rural Consultancy and along with overall responsibility for Property Sales her areas of expertise are Business Management, Marketing, Human Resources and Strategic Business Development.  An experienced facilitator, Louise specialises in Succession Planning for farming families nationwide.

    Louise has a Master of Arts in Humans Resources Management and a Master of Science in Rural Estate and Land Management from Harper Adams University.  She is currently training to be a Chartered Surveyor and organising Succession Planning seminars for family business owners in conjunction with Mfg Solicitors.

    The daughter of an agricultural merchant, Louise is Shropshire born and bred.  Married to Mike, with whom she manages the business, Louise is a keen sportswoman enjoying tennis, horse-riding and snow-skiing and on a daily basis derives great pleasure from training her young gun dog.  Rather more sedately Louise is a keen cook and experienced knitter - she is never happier than when cooking for her family.

    Louise is also Managing Director of Taylor Millbrook Ltd which specialises in Business Development, Cultural Change and Succession Planning.

    Louise’s claim to fame:  Louise once travelled non-stop on a bus from San Francisco to New York – she hasn’t been on a bus since!

    Bob is a Consultant with Barbers Rural Consultancy.  He specialises in all spheres of agricultural law, valuations, compensation, arbitration, planning and all aspects of property sales. 

    Bob is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers and was a Member of the Lord Chancellor’s Panel of Agricultural Arbitrators between 1982 and 2008.  He is also panel valuer for the Agricultural Mortgage Corporation, in addition to other national lending institutions.

    Originating from Gloucestershire, Bob was educated at Bedford School and the Royal Agricultural College before moving to Shropshire in 1971.  He derives great pleasure from his family, wife Diana, children Hannah, Jessica and Tom and six grandchildren.  He is a keen golfer and enjoys a variety of country pursuits including visiting National Trust properties.

    Bob’s claim to fame:  Bob was a 3lb baby (this might be hard to believe for anyone who knows him).

    Dan is a Senior Rural Surveyor with Barbers Rural Consultancy.  He undertakes all aspects of rural professional work including valuations, compensation claims, planning and development and specialises in grants, subsidies and stewardship schemes.

    Dan is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers.  

    A local lad, Dan originates from Malpas and graduated from Harper Adams University with a BSc (Hons) in Rural Estate and Land Management.  He has worked alongside Mike and Bob for over eight years.

    Dan enjoys both participating in and spectating numerous sports including hockey, golf, football, cricket and rugby.  Dan has recently become an extremely proud father to a beautiful baby girl.

    Dan’s claim to fame:  Dan is considered to be abnormally tall and could claim an NHS allowance for clothes.

    Annabel Fearnall MNAEA

    Annabel is Property Sales Manager with Barbers Rural Consultancy.  Responsible for all aspects of rural property sales from initial market valuation to completion of sale, Annabel is highly skilled, knowledgeable and experienced in the varied, and often complex, facets of rural property sales.  She has an inherent understanding of the stress which can accompany selling and buying property and with a cool, calm and collected demeanour she is an extremely safe pair of hands.

    Annabel is a Member of the National Association of Estate Agents and holds the NAEA Technical Award.

    Born and bred in Shropshire, although educated in Yorkshire, Annabel married into a Shropshire farming family and has a wide knowledge of the local area.  She is a keen horsewoman and enjoys skiing, walking and deer stalking but her pride and joy are Freddie aged 4 and Hattie aged 2 who are a total delight!

    Annabel’s claim to fame:  Annabel holds an HGV licence, even if it did take a total of five attempts.

    Karen is Office Manager and PA to Mike Taylor with Barbers Rural Consultancy.  With a keen eye for details, Karen runs all aspects of the administrative side of the business, including the accounts, with precision and good humour. Having worked alongside Mike for over ten years, Karen has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the firm’s long standing clients and is the only one in the office who can decipher Mike’s handwriting (including Mike!).

    Karen lives on a small arable farm locally and is a keen gardener, bellringer and choralist.  She loves walking her dogs and calling into The Bear in Hodnet for a light supper.

    Karen’s claim to fame:  Karen can ring a quarter peal of Plain Bob Doubles or Grandsire on church bells which involves at least 1250 changes of each bell and takes about 45 minutes.

    Jean Morris

    Jean joined the Barbers Rural team in July 2015 as Rural Sales and Administrative Support.  She is the ‘front of house’ and ‘go-to-girl’ in the office for anything and everything clerical.  Her bright and cheery phone manner and ‘can-do’ attitude brightens the day of colleagues and clients alike.  She is Annabel’s right-hand woman and assists with a wide variety of secretarial and organisational duties.

    No new-comer to the property market, Jean previously worked in residential lettings for 13 years and holds the Association of Residential Letting Agents Technical Award.  Educated at The Priory School in Shrewsbury and having worked in various administrative roles at RAF Shawbury and the Department of Transport in Shrewsbury, Jean has a broad knowledge of the local area.

    Jean loves spending time with family and friends and is known to enjoy the odd glass of wine.  With two gorgeous grandchildren, she must the youngest-looking granny in town!

    Jean’s claim to fame:  Jean once did a tandem sky dive for charity and would love to do it again!

    Harriet Jones

    Harriet is currently studying Rural Estate and Land Management at Harper Adams University.  Now in her third and placement year Harriet is spending 12 months working with us full time putting her studies into practice and increasing her knowledge and experience in the broad field of rural surveying.

    Shropshire born and bred Harriet lives in a small hamlet outside Market Drayton in a house which our sales team sold to her family!  She was educated at Ellesmere College on a tennis scholarship and spent her 6th form years at Adams Grammar School in Newport.  She is a sporting pocket-rocket playing tennis, netball and participating in charity runs.  In her spare time she enjoys going to Young Farmers events, eating out and spending time with her twin sister, Olivia.

    Harriet’s claim to fame:  Harriet participated in Junior Wimbledon with her twin sister and represented the English tennis team in France in 2012.
