Welsh organic milk group goes from strength to strength.

The organic milk group, Calon Wen, is calling for more farmers to join as its order book grows.

The Welsh co-operative, which was set up in 2000, is run by farmers for farmers and is made up of over 20 family farms. Calon Wen has enjoyed strong growth for both its liquid sales through processors including Rachel's in Aberystwyth and cheese maker Caws Cenarth, as well as its own products sold throughout the UK.

“Despite the tough conditions we’re finding that our milk remains a staple choice for both processors and consumers looking for good quality, healthy products,” said Calon Wen Chairman Owen Lort-Phillips.

“Our own milk, cheese and butter have been very successful too, reflecting our commitment to a high quality Welsh product, sourced from organic farms here in Wales.”
