Farmers Weekly have reported that an increasing number of mobile phone applications are being developed especially for agriculture, giving techy farmers a wealth of information directly onto their phones.  The applications, or apps, allow users to access useful tools, information and entertainment on their mobile phone.  Farmers Weekly are planning to complie a list of some fo the most useful ones on the market and are asking readers which ones they are using, or which ones would be useful to them.

There are have been generic apps such as weather forecasating and unit converters available for some time but agricultural suppliers have jumped on the bandwagon and are starting to develop their own.  Dalmark Grain has created a simply app that can be downloaded onto all web-enabled phones to help growers to keep abreast of movements in cereal, oil and currency prices.  Growers can also get advice about crop spraying using Syngenta Crop Protection's mobile website with access to product guides.
