Barbers Rural and Barbers Auctions have a vacancy for a Placement Student for 2012/13 to commence July 2012.
The role:
Barbers Rural Consultancy (Chartered Surveyors and Estate Agents) - 3 days a week
Duties will include valuations, compensation claims, planning applications, farm management advice, rural agency
Barbers Auctions - 2 days a week
Duties will incluce clerking of livestock sales, livestock management, farm machinery and dispersal sales
The Student:
We are looking for a bright, enthusiastic and intelligent student who is prepared to take on a wide variety of roles. You will need to be self motivated, pro-active in your approach to work and have excellent attention to detail. You will need excellent interpersonal skills, a good sense of humour and hold a current driving licence.
The Businesses:
Barbers Auctions runs one of the largest one day livestock markets in the country every Wednesday as well as dedicated barren cow sales every Monday. The team, headed by ex Harper student Bernie Hutchinson and assisted by ex Harper student Mark Jones, is also responsible for standing straw sales, machinery auctions, dispersal sales and seasonal sales.
Barbers Rural Consultancy is owned and run by husband and wife team Mike and Louise Taylor. Mike, who is also a partner in Barbers Auctions, is an experience rural surveyor (FRICS, CAAV) and is supported by ex Harper student Dan Bowden (MRICS, CAAV). Bob Oakes (FRICS, FLAA, CAAV) acts as consultant to the firm and is also Chairman of Barbers Auctiosn.
