Bob specialises in all spheres of Agricultural Law, Compensation, Planning and all aspects of Rural Property Sales. He is currently Chairman of Barbers Auctions LLP and still plies his trade as an Auctioneer.

Bob is a Fellow of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, a Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers and also a Member of the Lord Chancellors Panel of Agricultural Arbitrators and has been since 1982. He is also a Valuer for the Agricultural Mortgage Corporation, in addition to National Lending Institutions.

Originating from Gloucestershire, educated at Bedford School and the Royal Agricultural College, Bob Oakes joined Barbers in October 1971 as an Assistant in Dawley, moving to Market Drayton, Wellington, Newport , Market Drayton in 2005, and the Agricultural Centre in 2008 and is considered the Grandfather of the auctions Partnership.

He derives great pleasure from his family, wife Diana, children Hannah, Jessica and Tom and five grandchildren, aged from 11 downwards. He is also a keen Golfer, swimmer, enjoys country pursuits and also visiting National Trust properties.

Bird health issues such as hock burn, transport to slaughterhouses and infectious bronchitis in cockerels were among the subjects raised at the recent meeting of the British Poultry Veterinary Association in Harrogate, as Rhian Price reports
